PowerUp Episode #45: Xiang, founder of the VGF

by Osirun on December 20, 2010

Xiang is here to talk about his project, the Video Gaming Federation, and how it works as a rating system for the games Super Street Fighter IV and Tekken 6, and most likely MvC3 in the future. The VGF is relatively new, but Xiang has been in the scene for nearly a decade. Upon hearing about the VGF, I immediately wanted to grill Xiang with all the questions I could about how he plans to avoid the pitfalls that have swallowed up past rating systems.

  • Xiang’s player history
  • The goals and functionality of the VGF
  • What the VGF means for TOs and players
  • Details, and comparisons with Apex and Tonamento
  • To fear or not to fear, that is the question

I have also added PowerUp 2011 to the list of VGF associated events. All it takes is getting players involved and then sending results, and I figure why not give it a shot!

Lastly, I do apologize for the poor audio quality of the recording. I couldn’t quite fix it, but try to enjoy the information presented despite my lack of editing expertise XD
